So the idea of a sketch book horrified me to start with!   But it's fun to do,  sometimes with friends on a day out, and sometimes on a holiday, to capture a memory.  I don't bother to use a pencil, just go straight in with ink, or sometimes lay down some colour first, then add ink detail on top.
