I have been asked why on earth I started with watercolour? It's apparently the most difficult medium of all. I had no idea, but I completely agree! Yet in the right hands, it can give some beautiful, unpredictable, results.

I started by accident. I was browsing John Lewis online looking for a painting, and came across a few pieces I liked by Elizabeth Baldin. I clicked through to her website, and found that she lived about 5 miles from me. I also spotted a little tab called "Workshops". Oooh, how interesting. We had a chat on the phone, since I was worried about not having any experience. She was planned a beginners course soon, so took my details. At my very first lesson a few weeks later, I was expecting to just be messing around with paint, and couldn't believe that I came home with a finished painting.
I have since attended several one day workshops with Liz and other artisits via my local art group, Woodley & Earley Art Group. I also become a patreon member of an online site, and have spent many hours building my knowledge via YouTube. There are some very talented artists out there, sharing their skills.
I have displayed several pieces of my work at my local art group annual exhibitions, and even sold a few paintings. Very exciting.
